I\u00a0always try\u00a0to\u00a0follow\u00a0the\u00a0less-is-more\u00a0approach\u00a0to packing, but\u00a0packing for a family\u00a0holiday\u00a0is an entirely different beast. There is so much stuff little people need. To start with, a \u2018spare\u2019 of everything for the \u2018what if\u2019 scenarios; \u2018what if\u2019 my baby is sick, \u2018what if\u2019 her nappy leaks, \u2018what if\u2019 he\u2019s too hot\u2026 Next, the essential \u2018bag of tricks\u2019 for the flight, packed with anything to help prevent a mid-air meltdown. That\u2019s before you consider\u00a0should you bring the buggy<\/a>, car seat and or travel cot? Oh and you still haven\u2019t packed for yourself yet. Packing for a holiday with the kids definitely requires time and organisation. If like me, neither of those requirements are at hand, rest assured! I\u2019ve made tonnes of mistakes and am happy to share them so you can avoid them! Here are my top 6.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. Always edit your child\u2019s bag on the sly before travel. You might find they go for all the heavy\/ fun stuff and forget to pack the essentials. My daughter packed 5 books, 6 cuddly toys, a water pistol and no pants for our last holiday!<\/li>
  2. Bring a mini First Aid kit. My son nearly sliced off the top of his toe getting out of the pool on one holiday, and I didn\u2019t have any plasters. You can buy mini first aid travel kits or make them up yourself. Essentials include baby nurofen or calpol, plasters, insect repellent, antihistamine, after-sun for kids and sudocreme.  Tweezers and nail scissors will come in handy too, but only if you have a checked bag.<\/li>
  3. When my daughter was a baby we went to Spain\u2026 I presumed everywhere would be open on arrival and didn\u2019t bring food beyond enough for the flight. I didn\u2019t realise  all the big supermarkets and most pharmacies close on a Sunday.  We found somewhere eventually but it was stressful!<\/li>
  4. Do bring some warm clothes, even when going to a hot country! I know I know, I\u2019m not trying to be a damp squid, but I\u2019ve been caught out with unexpected storms and chilly nights. If the disappointing weather isn\u2019t bad enough, try having to buy a jumper in a holiday resort that seems to only sell bikinis and beach towels! Brrrrrrr<\/li>
  5. Consider buying a checked bag! You will end up carrying your children\u2019s bags, and often your child too. We went one year with the two kids and 8 pieces of hand luggage between us. My husband\u2019s logic at the time of booking was that we could each bring 2 pieces for free. If we\u2019d thought it through, that meant carrying 8 bags and our two kids, who were both too little to walk through the airport.<\/li>
  6. Lastly, a mistake courtesy of my sister! She brought her two little boys to Legoland recently and because they\u2019d grown out of the buggy a year ago, she didn\u2019t think to bring it. You tend to walk around a lot while on holidays\u2026 up and down to the beach, in to the town, around the equariums \/ fun parks \/ water parks etc and within minutes she heard the \u201cMum, I\u2019m tired, will you carry me\u201d etc.<\/li><\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
